Use Recommendations for Aducanumab in Alzheimer Disease
Aducanumab is a first-in-class anti-amyloid recombinant human immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody. It was designed to selectively promote clearance of insoluble forms of A𝛽 and cerebral amyloid aggregates (“amyloid plaques”) which are believed to play a key role in Alzheimer disease pathology. Following its approval from the FDA, experts developed appropriate use recommendations.

Neurological Complications of COVID-19 in Hospitalized Patients: The Registry of a Neurology Department in the First Wave of the Pandemic | PubMed An analysis of the “spectrum of neurological complications observed in a hospital-based cohort of COVID-19 patients who required a neurological assessment.” Overall, neurological complications were found to be low in patients hospitalized with COVID-19. “Different mechanisms appear to be involved in these complications, and there was no evidence of direct invasion of the nervous system in our cohort.”
Hyperosmotic-Stress-Induced Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation of ALS-related Proteins in the Nucleus | Cell Reports Researchers mapped the “hyperosmotic-stress-induced nuclear liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)-related proteins (fused in sarcoma [FUS], TAR DNA-binding protein 43 [TDP-43])” to better understand the effect of hyperosmotic stress on LLPS. Ultimately, the study showed “that FUS and TDP-43 can assemble into granules mainly in the nucleus under a variety of types and concentrations of hypertonic solutions.”
