Medical Summary

From CT description, the metal object is 20mm away from the ICA. Optic nerve, optic vessels intact. Eyeball intact. Under GA the object was removed antero-posteriorly, drainage tube inserted along the canal. Follows medication in ICU. Will update as info will follow.

A 7yo female, Hispanic, no health problems, and emmetropic OU. Patient was referred by Optometry for a retina evaluation, with a possible early optic disc melanocytoma OS. The 35° and 20° close ups are both OS. The 50° photo of the right eye is included for reference. We did not Dx optic disc melanocytoma and recommended observation with a follow-up at 6mo. Optic pathway gliomas are more common in children and are associated with neurofibromatosis type 1. The tumor can affect any portion of the optic pathway. These optic nerve photos were taken today from a 40WF. She was diagnosed in mid-may with a temporal lobe #Glioblastoma. The patient underwent one round of radiation and #Chemotherapy and decided not to undergo anymore treatment.
