Heel Pain

A 78-year-old female patient who comes to the clinic for long-standing pain in her left foot, starting two years ago in an insidious and progressive way until today.

Currently pain in the entire rear third of the foot with walking and standing, especially in the area of the calcaneus and Achilles tendon.

Examination shows generalized inflammation from the malleolus to the calcaneus, a sensitive area towards the sole of the foot. Silfverskiöld and Tinel tests were negative.

She is referred for radiographic study where a calcaneal spur is observed. Patient scheduled for surgery.

Apart from the surgical option and oral analgesics, what other treatments are indicated?

Do you know what test there is for the evaluation of calcaneal spur or what is the name of the sign of pain on plantar palpation in the calcaneus?
