Molluscum contagiosum or folliculitis?
20 yo AA male with raised skin colored papules for greater than 1 year. Has been out of the country for 10-12 months in an area where he did not access to a barber (so no hair cuts) until recently (1-2 weeks ago). Did not notice area had changed colors until he received a hair cut 1-2 weeks ago, but has been aware of the bumps for almost 1 year. Denies OTC products, reports itching so he has been picking/popping them over the course of months. No other areas affected on body. Does not have insurance or PCP so has not followed up with anyone. Did not think the area was this bad until a pick was shown. Barber in U.S. did not mention anything to him when cutting his hair upon return to U.S. I'm stuck on between these two diagnosis as the central area looks umbilical. Any further advice/recommendations would be great. Working on getting a pcp at a low income facility, but will take a moment. TIA.
