Stubbed toe fracture and osteomyelitis
AP radiograph of the great toe shows osteomyelitis (arrow) of the metaphysis of the distal phalanx. Osteomyelitis occurs after a stubbed toe when there is a fracture associated with a nailbed injury. Because the nail bed inserts on the bone fractures at this location are considered to be open.
