Coronal CT of the chest in a child with XXX shows a nondisplaced fracture (arrow) of the left first rib. Fractures of the first rib are generally associated with high impact injuries. However, in this patient, the injury was chronic, occurring as a result of wearing a heavy backpack. Backpack-related fractures can affect cervical ribs or the first rib. Other complications related to heavy backpacks include back pain and poor posture. #MSKMonday #MusculoskeletalMonday
