Longitudinal ultrasound of the chest wall in infant with a growing “soft lump” shows an elongated heterogeneously hyper- & hypo-echoic soft tissue mass of the subcutaneous fat (denoted by arrows & calipers). No large vessels are seen in the lesion by grayscale imaging. Pulsed Doppler image through the same mass shows abundant internal vascular flow with many low resistance arterial waveforms. The density of high flow vessels (>5/cm), elongated & mildly lobulated configuration, mixed echogenicity, subcutaneous location & patient age are all typical of an infantile hemangioma. #ThoraxThursday

Ultrasound imaging of the scrotum shows a varicocele characterized by multiple large, serpiginous vessels. A varicocele represents a dilated pampiniform venous plexus within the spermatic cord. Patients may present with a scrotal mass, infertility, or testicular atrophy. On physical examination, a varicocele is described as feeling like a 'bag of worms.' On imaging, the veins are dilated more than 2 to 3 mm in diameter with increased flow during the Valsalva maneuver.](https://app.figure1.com/case-detail/85199f4c-1056-42a2-b6aa-d2754780614d)
