The mother of this 4-week old baby woke up one day noticing this distinct crease between the distal/middle phalanges of her right middle finger, as if a bit of string had been tying to the tip of her finger. Upon close inspection, no piece of string or hair was identified. The baby has been in no distress and appears to be in no pain. The tip of the finger has normal capillary return, with no signs of ischemia. She seems to be moving her hands and all fingers normally. What causes this?
