30-year-old nursing home employee came to ED for white patches in throat with no other symptoms. Patient said throat felt dry at the start of shift the day prior but halfway through the shift it became red and inflamed. He came to the ED the next day after pain and redness resolved but white patches appeared. No medical hx besides recent treatment with azithromycin for possible chlamydia exposure. Denied gi symptoms. Denied any feeling of fatigue, headache, runny nose, or cough. Patient says he did have two days the week prior where he felt more exhausted but attributed it to overtime shifts. Chemistry all within normal limits. WBC was 11. Rapid flu and strep both negative. Strep culture pending. Positive #Covid test after nasopharyngeal swab. After negative chest X-ray, patient discharged with rx for azithromycin to cover for strep and pneumonia.
