Didactic case. 62yom with PO story of #Sigmoid cancer (2 weeks before) comes complaining of belly #Distention and the stopping of evacuation for five days and generalized pain. Digital rectum examination showed nothing. Performed two abdominal #X-rays, first one standing up and showing the liquid levels, and the second one laying, showing generalized #Bowel distention. CT scan showed no abnormalities, thus, we have the hypothesis of some adherence. He has a #Nasogastric-tube for drainage and is under observation.
8 year old male with no significant medical history with abdominal pain of 12 hours duration which started around umbilicus and was now in the right side of the lower abdomen. Examination showed tenderness and guarding in the McBurney point. Blood count showed leukocytosis. During the appendicectomy, the appendix was normal, but examination showed dark red fixed 10cmx2 mass in the mesenterium.
Drainage post chest tube insertion. 42M came in with recurrent pneumonia. Nil resolution despite antibiotics. CXR showed consolidation left lower lobe. CT showed loculated pleural effusion. Dx?? #chylothorax #emphyema #abscess??
A 24-Year-Old Female, presented with Acute Abdominal Pain. Was managed conservatively at a primary health center and shifted to a higher center for further management. She hadn't passed stools in 4 days, abdominal distension, severe pain, low urine output, hypovolemia and febrile. A CT abdomen with contrast showed acute intestinal obstruction with contrast not seen past the DJ flexure. On Laparotomy, Image 1 shows a Gangrenous bowel loop, image 2 shows terminal ileum being gangrenous, an Ileo-Cecal Volvulus was noted over a Vitello-Intestinal Band. Figure 3 shows the complete resected specimen.
