Patient with chemical dependency

A patient came in to the ER with a broken wrist. The patient admitted to having a history of chemical dependency. The patient stated they were 8 months sober.

The patient was in a lot of pain in the ER. The Dr gave the patient Toradol for pain and an ice pack. The patient gave a 6/10 pain after an hour of administration.

The Dr sent the patient home with a splint and told the patient to take Tylenol and use ice. Patient was unable to take oral NSAIDS d/t a history of ulcers. The patient was also advised to F/U with ortho.

How do you treat such a patient?
