Patent ductus arteriosus
Frontal (image 1) and lateral (image 2) radiograph of the chest in an infant with a patent ductus arteriosus shows mild prominence of the pulmonary vasculature consistent with shunt vascularity. The differential diagnosis for this finding includes causes of a left to right shunt such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, and patent ductus arteriosus. Cardiac catheterization (image 3) shows a patent ductus arteriosus with a connection (arrow) between the aorta and main pulmonary artery.
