Renal Osteodystrophy
Axial CT images of the head performed in a patient with renal osteodystrophy six months apart shows interval thickening of the diploic space of the skull (arrow). Renal osteodystrophy occurs in patients with chronic renal failure and is characterized by bone mineralization deficiency. Imaging features include looser zones, osteomalacia, osteopenia, widened physes, and fracture. In the skull, renal osteodystrophy leads to diffuse thickening of the diploic space.

This is a sagittal CT image on bone windows from my last post of renal #Osteodystrophy. This is a "rugger jersey" spine - named so because of the striped effect due to vertebral end plate sclerosis, and this looks like the stripes on a rugby jersey. You can also see the transplant kidney in the pelvis.](https://app.figure1.com/case-detail/55c426f8-d310-4116-a28e-248dc37587f4)
51 y/o male presents with pain and swelling of his right foot. Dropped an 18 V battery pack on his foot two months ago. CKD with dialysis. Not diabetic, but some diminished sensation. Self-employed carpenter. Metatarsal fractures are obvious, but I am concerned about the destruction of the first MTP joint. Diagnosed but not treated for psoriatic arthritis. No infection.
