26 Year Old Female Patient with Left Sided Trauma
Patient Overview
A 26-year-old female sustained trauma to the left side of her body resulting from an accident. She fell in a seated position.
Initial Symptoms
- Following the injury, any movement caused pain and sidelying was impossible due to pain.
- Unable to move her left leg and any hip adduction and internal rotation caused intolerable pain.
Initial Treatment
- Two weeks of bed rest.
- Transitioned to using a walker for mobility after the initial rest period.
- Now using a single crutch for support after three weeks.
Symptoms Progression
- No pain while sitting.
- Burning pain experienced when standing, particularly at the left sacroiliac joint.
- Groin pain with full weightbearing.
- Able to change position from supine to sidelying without pain.
- Difficulty initiating a straight leg raise from supine independently.
- Able to complete a straight leg raise after passive initiation.
- Tolerable pain with adduction and internal rotation of the hip.
- No reported difficulties with bowel movements or bladder control.
MRI Findings
MRI is done after 3 weeks of injury.
