Axial (image 1) and sagittal (image 2) T2 MRI of the wrist show a ganglion cyst (arrow) arising from the dorsal surface of the wrist.
Ganglion cysts represent the most common mass of the hand. They most commonly occur along the dorsal aspect of the wrist. The cysts are usually asymptomatic.
Patients typically present to their doctor because they feel a firm, well circumscribed, painless mass. On exam, the ganglion cyst is usually fixed to deep structures but not the skin.

AP (image 1) and a lateral (image 2) radiographs of the wrist in an adolescent gymnast with wrist pain shows widening of the physis of the distal radius (arrow). Gymnast wrist is a Salter-Harris type I injury of the distal radius physis. On imaging, it appears as widening and irregularity of the distal radius physis. There may be sclerosis of the radius metaphysis. Patients are treated with rest. #MSKMonday #MusculoskeletalMonday]

Radiograph (image 1) and T1-W MRI (image 2) of the wrist show that the ulna is shorter than the radius. This is termed ulna minus variance. In addition, the lunate (arrow) is fragmented and sclerotic consistent with Kienbock disease. Kienbock disease is avascular necrosis of the lunate. It can be caused by trauma, biomechanical factors such as ulna minus variance, and anatomical factors. #MSKMonday]

AP (image 1) and oblique (image 2) radiographs of the wrist show a fracture (arrow) through the waist of the scaphoid. Scaphoid fractures are the most common carpal bone fractures and typically occur after a fall onto an outstretched hand. They are associated with avascular necrosis of the proximal fragment due to the scaphoid bone's retrograde blood supply.]
