Clinicians- In honor of Fungal Disease Awareness Week, keep certain endemic mycoses, such as histoplasmosis, cocciodiodomycosis, and others in mind when seeing patients who have recently traveled and may have fungal infections, especially if they traveled to South or Central America. A new GeoSentinel analysis of endemic mycoses in international travelers concludes that clinician knowledge of geographic distribution and modes of transmission of endemic mycoses may help prevent infections in travelers.
