59-year-old man came to ED after traumatic #amputation of finger. He sawed it off while cutting wood. Patient’s wife says he came into the living room with his finger wrapped in a bloody t-shirt and started watching TV like nothing had happened. She saw the amputation after removing the shirt and brought him to the hospital. Patient was calm, denied pain and said he had eaten a pot brownie prior to starting his woodworking project. Vitals all within normal limits. Wound covered with surgiseal and appointment with #plastics set for the next morning. #trauma #finger

Patient arrived to ED two hours after crush injury, intoxicated & unable to inform us of mechanism. We believe he trapped his finger in a door & it was crushed causing an amputation of his left distal phalange from his ring finger. Plastics reviewed this patient & informed him we could not reattach under the circumstances, & he would receive a local anaesthetic to fix the remaining wound 🖐🏽.
