MVA. Some skin loss. Nurse suggested referral to Plastic surgeon. None found as it's weekend. Debrided under local anaesthetic and fortunately this 53yo has elastic skin. I was able to close the wound in the ED.

1. Stab wound to thigh. Deep closure with what size suture and what type of closure? Staple or sew the skin? What do we not want to miss when evaluating this injury?

2. 20y male s/p fall on rock. fx ziphoid and deep dirty wound. trauma cleared and closed with internal and external suture. now wound looks infected? concerns on healing in second picture? post fall day 20.

3. Patient was beat up in a road rage incident. Skiving injury to skin and cartilage of left ear. This was repaired under local anesthesia. What antibiotic prophylaxis would you consider for this? Which bacteria commonly affects the cartilage of the ear?

4. Broken glass from window to left calf. Glass caused laceration of the skin & fascia, down to the muscle. Fascia closed with running 4-0 Vicryl. Skin closure with 3-0 Ethilon, vertical mattresses for strength/approximation & simple interrupted for finishing touch.
