Osteochondral lesion of the capitellum

Lateral (image 1) and AP (image 2) radiographs of the elbow show an osteochondral lesion involving the capitellum (arrow). This is confirmed on T1-weighted coronal MR (image 3). The capitellum is the second most frequent site of osteochondral lesions following the medial femoral condyle. The lesion typically occurs in overhead throwing and non-throwing athletes such as pitchers, quarterbacks, volleyball and tennis players, and gymnasts.
