A section of intestinal worm removed from the small bowel of an Afghan local national at laparotomy for gunshot wound. The bullet that perforated his small intestine in multiple places actually entered through his upper thigh, travelled through his pelvis, shredded his small intestine and lodged in his diaphragm. I'll post that case study soon!

Mesh eroded into small intestine

Shredded intestines from a gunshot wound to the thigh. The patient had presented with multiple gunshot wounds through his upper thighs but no other obvious injuries. He deteriorated into shock and a FAST scan revealed free fluid in his abdomen prompting emergency laparotomy. At laparotomy we found about 10 neatly punched holes in his small intestine from where one bullet had entered his right outer thigh, tracked through his pelvis, shredded his gut, and lodged in the left side of his diaphragm. The bullet was completely intact. I'll post a link to the complete case study in the comments.
