A 75 year old female patient who had a recent surgery. She has a Hx of dialysis and recent renal failure. She has a leg tube and does not eat any greens. What medications can cause this coloring? I have seen a Cyano Kit cause red pee but nothing this green.

Can anyone explain the green urine?

100mL of this thick, foul-smelling, light green substance drained from the bladder of a dialysis pt via straight cath. Pt is a female in her 60’s with recent hx of total nephrectomy. Has been anuric since surgery several months ago. Dr. ordered a “urine” specimen on her and this is the result. Cath placement verified by 2 charge nurses (to ensure it was not coming from the vagina). My question is, if she does not have kidneys is this actually urine? Is it possible the urine has been there since the nephrectomy? I am a new nurse and would love feedback from experienced professionals.
