Fever of Unknown Origin
18 year old female presenting with fever of unknown origin everyday for over 1 year. Also complains of drenching night sweats and fatigue. She has on and off swelling of the right tonsil, as well as recurrent mouth ulcers. Had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy which were normal.
Lab findings show elevated ESR of 100, hemoglobin low at 98, and ANA was positive a few months ago but is negative now after giving steroids. Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy were performed and normal.
Fever does respond to prednisone 40mg, however as soon as tapering starts it comes back.
