any guesses as to what this mystery mass is? Initially believed to be a large hernia but the mass was removed completely and the abdominal wall was intact. 45yo male, had a hernia repair 1yr earlier on the opposite side of his pelvis. No biopsy results...3rd world medicine.

Lateral images (image 2 and 3) from a contrast enema showed that the umbilical hernia (arrow) contains colon and is easily reducible when a finger compresses the hernia (image 3). Umbilical hernias can be congenital or acquired. Congenital umbilical hernias are extremely common. They are only treated when the hernia is large, symptomatic, or persists beyond five years of age.
