Patient Case

Patient is a 74 year old female who presented with left knee pain and swelling over the past weekend. She has a diagnosis of seronegative erosive rheumatoid arthritis. She has been on prednisone 8mg per day for a decade per her rheumatologist. Two months prior she was started in simponi aria IV every 8 weeks as well as sulfasalazine 2g daily. She had some relief of global pain, but the knee was progressively worse. Determined that a joint tap with cortisone injection was the best course. This is the fluid that we drew from the knee.
