15 years-old male with tongue macules

15 years-old male, scholar, came to visit presenting fever and submandibular and right cheek swelling, no fever at the time, but 2 days ago presented 38.7°C, no other symptom. A school doctor told him that this clinical presentation was mumps, but no serological labs were assessed. What do you think about the case? What could be the cause of those macules on the tongue? I'm thinking of EBV infection, but no other symptoms were present.
