Radiograph of the lower extremity and detail radiograph of the knees shows the patient to be bow-legged or have a genu varus configuration. In addition, there is down-sloping of the medial proximal tibia with medial metaphyseal beaking. The configuration of the knees is typical of Blount disease.

Blount disease is a growth disorder that leads to tibia vara. There are two main types depending on the age of onset: early-onset and late-onset with the age cutoff of 10 years. Early-onset disease is more common in girls, while late-onset disease is more common in boys. Both types of Blount disease are more common in black children and in children with obesity.
