74 year old female hx of CLL admitted for diffuse rash. Began as a few spots months ago. Per family, rash would go and come in cycles not responsive to anything specific. Seemed to get worse every time it came back. Shave Bx of rle revealed superficial bacterial folliculitis, subacute spongiotic dermatitis actinic keratosis, mild stasis dermatitis. This did have some response to IV steroids.

Fever!!! Fever !!! Fever !!!

When the body fights an infection, it often raises its temperature in response, leading to a fever. This elevated body temperature can be beneficial for several reasons:

  1. Inhibiting Pathogen Growth.
  2. Enhancing Immune Response.
  3. Increasing Enzyme Activity.
  4. Improving T-Cell Function:
  5. Limiting the Availability of Nutrients for Pathogens:
  6. Triggering the Acute Phase Response:

Then why running to decrease body temperature when getting sick!???
