Question

What is that radiolucency around the impacted tooth? I am just a dental student, I want to know the possible causes and TTT. Should he/she extract this tooth? Thank you.

Pulled this wisdom tooth (number 1, upper right quadrant) this morning. Yes, it is a wisdom tooth. I had to ask my boss to make sure. Apparently, it's so rare that it only happens in about 1 of every 50,000 cases. I thought it was pretty cool.

Follow up on case. Diagnosis: keratocystic odontogenic tumor. This CT is relatively recent and there are still multiple radiolucent areas in the area of the cyst; the bone fill into the previous lesion seems to be very good, but I am concerned about the remaining radiolucent areas. Anyone have any thoughts? Patient only lost one tooth, but it is very possible that tooth 19 may need endodontic therapy. No paresthesia present and the patient is doing well.

#1 wisdom tooth ext. The bizarre color of the tooth had my dentist and I puzzled. Perhaps the enamel did not form, and this is just the dentin causing the dark color? What are some of your thoughts?
