Patient presented to pharmacy with attached photos requestin | Figure 1

Patient presented to pharmacy with attached photos requesting hydrocortisone for sun reaction. Further questioning indicated a recent hx of moderate sunburn followed by appearance of red pruritic rash focalized in area of worst burn. The rash also causes intense pain/irritation when scratched or rubbed.

Rash appeared approximately 4-5 days following sun exposure. Had used aloe on burn up to this point.

Patient indicated pmhx of mild heat rash following sun exposure but also stated this feels much more uncomfortable than any prior heat rash and time to onset seems to indicate a different etiology.

Provided patient with 1x tube of 0.5% hydrocortisone to try, however I want to make sure I’m not missing something that should be referred to an MD.

Patient was told to return in 3 days if HC didn’t seem to be helping, I’m hoping I’ll have a bit more info to give at that point.
