Geriatric Wrist Trauma in Prehospital Setting

This patient is a geriatric female who suffered a ground level fall. She was utilizing her walker when she fell and the folding support bracket between each leg has punctured her wrist.

She is alert and oriented, and complaining of 10/10 pain to the wrist. Patients vitals are all within normal limits.

What is your plan of action to treat, secure, and transport this patient?

Update 1

This is what I did for this patient:

  1. I started an IV in the unaffected arm and administered 25mcg of Fentanyl and Zofran ODT.
  2. Acquired some tools and disassembled walker so strut was the only piece attached to her.
  3. The strut was pretty surface level and fell out even with stabilization, so it was put into a bio bag and brought along.
  4. Site was bandaged with ABD pads and pressure dressing.
  5. The patient was helped onto cot and brought to ER.

She required stitches and wound washing. She was given pain medication and sent home the same night after X-rays and CTs showed no damage except the skin tear seen.
