This #Critically-ill-patient in his 60's with PMH of COPD and afib was transferred to the MICU due to respiratory failure requiring intubation.
Sputum culture from a bedside bronch started growing #acinetobacter. It is #multi-drug-resistant.
He is being treated with polymixin and minocycline.
We avoided gentamicin due to acute on chronic renal failure.
#acinetobacter is typically due to #nosocomial infections and is relatively uncommon. It is a nasty one!
