62 y/m reports lesion on index finger for 1 month. First thought that he had bumped it or an insect sting. Has not healed. Reports that he has tried to self-treat multiple times by freezing it. Bleeds easily. Center is cherry red. No other health history. Referred to dermatologist for follow up. Your thoughts?

this is a 76 y/o Hispanic male with DM2 controlled on Januvia and Lantus. CKD, CHF, late effects of CVA left hemiplegia, and contracture to left hand. new pt to our IM clinic with no medical records coming from his previous pcp. Has a nonpainful ~7mm diameter round mass to the crease of DIP joint of left middle finger, +foul smell, for the past 4 months. Per his report, he was sent to a dermatologist by his previous pcp for the same mass last year and was excised. He was told that if it grows back, he myst see hand surgeon. No path report of biopsy.
